The complete guide to removing eyelash extensions: choose the right remover, avoid white lumps and learn the techniques from A to Z.
Performing eyelash extension work is not a simple task, but a true jeweler's art. Professional lashmakers who carry out the work with meticulousness and precision are as precious as gold. But there comes a time when the client asks not only for the application of false eyelashes, but also for their removal. This happens when the eyelash extensions have thinned out considerably, the eyelashes have lost their presentable appearance or in case of work performed in an amateur manner by another master. To quickly and safely remove eyelash extensions, you need to have a quality remover. Let's talk about this product in more detail and provide usage tips.
1.What is a remover?
The remover is a product used to safely and gently remove eyelash extensions. It is made of gentle solvents, healing ingredients and natural oils. Everything is extremely safe, hypoallergenic and does not cause skin irritation or dry eyelashes. During the treatment, the structure of the natural hairs is not damaged, so the eyelashes look healthy even after the removal of false eyelashes. The principle of action of the remover is to soften the layer of glue on which the hairs stick. By wrapping the attachment point, the gentle solvents in the product will gently dissolve the glue, breaking the bond between the artificial and natural eyelashes. After a certain period of exposure, artificial eyelashes can be easily removed.
As often happens, some impatient clients, as soon as most of the lashes fall out, begin to frantically tear off the residue (always explain that this should not be done)! This severely damages the eyelashes, growth lines and mucous membrane of the eyes. Eyelashes regenerate on average between 3-6 months, so girls will have to walk around with messy "bits" for almost all of this period and will not be able to wear makeup properly! During DIY removal, the ocular mucosa is also irritated and swollen. Blepharitis, conjunctivitis and other unpleasant consequences are the consequence of eradication.
If customers don't have time to visit the lashmaker to remove their lashes, offer them a remover product for home use the next time they do the application. Safe formulation, affordable price, small quantity, easy to use and fast. Yes, some prefer to generously grease the eyelashes with oil or greasy cream and wait several hours, but it is much more convenient to remove the eyelashes in a few minutes without having to repeat the application of the product. And all this is possible with the remover.
2.What types of removers are there?
There are three types of removers: gel, cream and liquid. Usually you choose the type based on the type of eyelashes. The exposure time also depends on the type of remover and usually ranges from 4 to 10 minutes. Each type of remover has its own characteristics and advantages. It is important to consider the properties of each product and know how to use them correctly. The removers of the Extreme Look, Enigma, Lovely, Be Perfect and Barbara brands guarantee safe removal of eyelashes, thanks to their composition which contains the minimum number of components.
1. Remover Cream
it is a convenient product which, in addition to the active components, contains fatty oils and moisturizing components.
Characteristics:
- High density and consistency
- Lack of fluidity
- Minimal risk of contact with eyes
- It adapts perfectly to the root area of the eyelashes
- Economical consumption
The removal procedure is maximally comfortable for the client and for lashmakers of any experience level. The cream remover is suitable for complete removal of eyelash extensions and is indispensable in the removal of voluminous extensions of any complexity. For partial removal, we recommend choosing another type of product as the creamy consistency is not always easy to dose.
2. Gel Remover
it is a universal choice. It has an elastic and gelatinous consistency, which practically does not drip. The product is convenient to use and enjoys great popularity among experienced lashmakers. The gel remover dissolves the glue very well, but upon contact with the skin, due to the heat, it could slightly change its consistency, becoming less dense. It is important to control the quantity of product to avoid inconvenience to the customer.
Characteristics:
- Gelatinous and dense consistency
- Ease of use
- Quick removal of eyelash extensions
- Suitable for spot or complete removal of eyelashes
- Does not cause allergic reactions
3. Liquid Remover
in the past it had another name - debonder. It has a liquid and watery consistency. More and more professionals refuse to work with liquid removers, as they tend to easily get into the eyes, causing discomfort to the client. Unlike gel and cream removers, liquid removers often contain more abrasive substances, which can be compared to acetone, but gentler. It is indispensable when it comes to cleaning glue from tools and work surfaces. As for the removal of eyelash extensions - it can only be used for the removal of individual eyelashes/fans using a microbrush by an expert lashmaker, able to control and prevent the product from entering the eyes.
Characteristics:
- Quickly dissolves even the most resistant glue
- Ideal for individually removing eyelashes and fans with a microbsrush
- Ideal solution for cleaning tweezers and other objects from glue.
3.How to choose the right remover for you?

To remove eyelashes it is advisable to use a remover of the same brand as the glue. This will simplify the removal process, as manufacturers take into account the peculiarities of the glue and remover during production.
The creamy remover has a thicker consistency than the gel one, so it is especially recommended for beginners. However, the gel remover works faster and reduces the eyelash removal time. To choose the optimal remover for your work, you need to experiment with different consistencies.
4.Remove eyelashes correctly: step by step instructions.
Regardless of the type of remover, the removal process happens the same way, except for a couple of details.
-
Unlike eyelash extensions, removal can be carried out not lying down, but sitting, it all depends on the desire and comfort of the client.
-
Isolate the lower lashes with the help of patches and/or tape. This will also protect the skin of the lower eyelids from any accidental contact with the remover.
-
Using a microbrush, apply a small but sufficient amount of remover to the attachment area between the artificial and natural eyelashes. The remover layer must be uniform and well adherent to the attachment point. In the case of the cream remover, the application of the remover can be applied on both sides of the eyelashes, above and below as in the photo.
-
The exposure time of the cream remover is 3-7 minutes, the gel one is 3-6 minutes, the liquid one is 3-5 minutes.
-
Gently remove the eyelash extensions with the help of tweezers, avoiding pulling the eyelashes or making sudden and coarse movements. If an eyelash is not ready to be removed, wait by removing the other eyelashes and then come back again, add the remover if necessary.
-
After removing all the eyelashes, proceed to remove the remover with a dry cotton swab, until the remover is completely removed and only then clean the eyes and eyelashes with a moistened cotton pad.
-
At the end of the procedure, if a new extension implant is not required, a regenerating product can be applied.
DID YOU KNOW THAT?
- The appearance of lumps or white films does not depend on the remover but on the correct execution of the removal treatment.
- Lumps or white films form when the water comes into contact with the remover, crystallizing the remover and causing it to turn white.
- It is essential to remove all the remover from the eyes with a dry cotton swab and only then clean the eyes and eyelashes with a moistened cotton pad.
- In the case of the cream remover the application of the remover should be applied on both sides of the eyelashes, above and below as in the photo.
